Black & White Cookies

3/4 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
3 oz cream cheese
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup white chocolate chips
2 tbsp shortening

Preheat oven to 375.
Beat the sugar, butter, and cream cheese until fluffy.
Add in the egg and vanilla.
Gradually add in the flour, mixing well.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours (or overnight).
Roll out the dough on a well floured surface, and cut into desired shapes.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until just slightly light brown.
Cool the cookies completely on a wire rack, and then melt the white chocolate chips with 1 tbsp shortening. Dip half of the cookie in the white chocolate and return to the wire rack.
Melt the semisweet chocolate chips with the remaining shortening. Once the white chocolate has hardened, dip the other half of the cookie in the semisweet chocolate. You can also use a spoon or a butter knife to spread the chocolate on each half.
