1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon flour 3/4 cup milk 1 clove garlic, minced 1 jalapeno pepper, finely diced 1 cup colby jack cheese 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions: - Preheat oven to 375, and place your French loaf dough on a cutting board
- Slice the dough in half, lengthwise, forming two long strips of dough.
- Cut each strip into small pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- While you're forming the dough into balls, bring a pot of water to a boil.
- Drop the balls of dough into the boiling water, about 10 at a time, and leave them in the water for about a minute.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the dough, and place on a paper towel that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
- Once you have boiled all the balls of dough, place them on a foil lined baking sheet, and bake for 25 minutes.
- While the pretzels are baking, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small saucepan.
- Add in the flour and the milk, and whisk until smooth.
- Add in the garlic and jalapeno, and stir to combine.
- Use a wooden spoon to stir until the sauce starts to thicken.
- Stir in the cheese and the cayenne pepper, and remove from heat.
- Remove the pretzel bites from the oven.
- Melt 1/2 stick of butter and brush over the pretzels.
- Sprinkle with kosher salt and serve with the cheese sauce.
